Delete Your Account
Last updated: August 20, 2026
You can delete your wunderBudget account and all associated data at any time, directly in the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent — there is no recovery period.
Delete in the app
This is the fastest route and requires nothing from us:
- Open wunderBudget and go to Settings
- Scroll to Account
- Tap Delete account and confirm
Your account is removed straight away, and the app returns to the sign-in screen.
Delete by email
If you can no longer sign in or have already removed the app, email privacy@wunderbudget.com from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm once it is done, normally within a few business days.
What is deleted
- Your bank connections. Every connection is revoked at Plaid, which invalidates the access tokens so no further data can be retrieved from your bank.
- Your connection and account records — which institutions and accounts you linked, and how each account was classified.
- Your login. Your user account is deleted, including your email address, any phone number used for two-factor authentication, and any two-factor settings.
- Everything held on your device — transactions, budgets, savings goals, detected recurring charges, chat history with Chip, and your message board.
What we never stored in the first place
Your transactions are not kept on our servers. They are fetched from your bank through Plaid when the app syncs and are stored only on your device, so removing the app removes them. Your budgets, savings goals and Chip chat history are likewise stored only on your device and never leave it.
We never hold your bank credentials or your payment card details at any point.
What is retained, and why
- Subscription records. If you subscribed, we keep the purchase token, the plan purchased, and the identifier of the account that presented it. This exists so that a single subscription cannot be used to unlock multiple accounts. The record is released for re-use after 30 days without activity, which is also what allows you to delete your account and sign up again without losing a subscription you are still paying for.
- Billing records held by Apple or Google. Your purchase history lives with the app store you bought through, under their own retention policies. We cannot delete those on your behalf — contact Apple or Google directly.
- Operational logs. Routine server logs may briefly retain technical identifiers for security and troubleshooting before they age out.
Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription — cancellation is handled by the app store, not by us. Cancel through Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iOS, or Google Play → Menu → Subscriptions on Android, before deleting.
